Velden am Wörthersee, Austria — August 16, 2025 — The Philippines-Austrian Community in Carinthia (PACC) proudly celebrated its first-ever “Pista sa Nayon” (Barrio Fiesta) in Velden am Wörthersee, marking a milestone of cultural pride, unity, and joyful togetherness. The event was a resounding success, bringing together Filipinos, Austrians, and friends from across communities to experience the warmth and vibrancy of Filipino traditions.
The celebration featured colorful cultural highlights, delicious Filipino food, music, and games that delighted both young and old. One of the major attractions was the Nipa Hut photo booth, made possible through the dedication of Jewel James and Jürgen Eixelsberger, whose creativity and commitment brought the Filipino atmosphere to life.
The success of this event was made possible by the unwavering support of the PACC officers: Peter Platzer (Adviser), Arlene Palima Colavizza, Jovie Jenny, Tina Mitterer, Rebecca Pamor, Delia Buchner, and Elizabeth Amalie Eugenie, whose teamwork ensured every detail was well-prepared. Special thanks also go to Monaliza and Jenny, who, despite being on vacation, extended financial and beverage support.

John Patrick Platzer, President and Founder of Soldaten mit Herz, not only served as Emcee but also generously donated gifts for the games, embodying the true spirit of bayanihan and family.
The celebration was further enriched by the presence and support of partner organizations and friends, including:
- WFWP Austria: Renate Amesbauer (President), Merle Soquila-Blaschke (Liaison Officer), Rose, and Hala Maghawry (Journalist and UN Photographer)
- VFÖ (Verein Filipina in Österreich): Luzviminda Pepito (President), Maria Luz, Cecilia Sigler (Secretary), and Cecilia Orola Cech (Adviser)
- UPF (Universal Peace Federation): Ambassador for Peace, Ferdinand Blaschke
- Friends from the Church and Gemeinde Velden, along with many kababayans and foreign friends who joined in the festivities.
“This first Pista sa Nayon showed the strength of our community spirit and our pride in Filipino culture,” said the organizers. “Maraming salamat, danke, and mabuhay tayong lahat!”
The PACC looks forward to making this annual celebration even bigger and brighter in the years to come.
